Checks before and after installing a carport membrane

Membrane installation commonly includes deployment, positioning and connection, tensioning and inspection, with the actual sequence set by the project method. Before starting, confirm matching supports and panels, weather conditions, working platforms, temporary fixing and protection.

Prepare contact surfaces before deployment

Check panel numbers and orientation, remove sharp objects, weld spatter and contamination, and use handling methods suitable for the material. Soft-soled footwear does not mean unrestricted walking on a membrane; working supports and fall protection require separate arrangements.

Provide stability before tensioning is complete

Deployed membranes are more sensitive to wind and rain. Install temporary restraints to the approved method while the structural system is incomplete. If conditions change or work stops, the site lead should confirm a safe condition rather than relying on instinct when deploying large panels.

Protect membranes from neighbouring trades

Coordinate and isolate welding, cutting, coating and lifting from installed membranes to prevent damage from sparks, tools and paint. Check connections, form, drainage and installation records on completion, and address damage to the material and project requirements.
