If a seven-shaped carport develops significant ponding, unusual sagging or persistent snow accumulation, restrict access by people and vehicles to the affected area and ask maintenance professionals to assess the response. Do not climb onto the membrane, push water from below or remove snow with sharp tools.
Why removing ponded water is not enough
Blockages, membrane slackness, changed connections or drainage defects may cause ponding. Investigate the cause after removing water or it may recur. Adding makeshift drain holes can damage membranes and connections and should not replace professional assessment.
Checks before and after rain or snow
From a safe position, check for leaves covering outlets and new low points, damage or pronounced wrinkles. After rain or snow, record the location, extent and timing of accumulation and compare earlier photographs to help the maintenance team decide whether further investigation is needed.
Do not apply snow-removal methods by habit
Membranes and coatings differ in their compatibility with chemicals, heat and tools. Without supporting material and project maintenance documents, do not apply de-icer, heat the roof or pile snow into concentrated loads. Confirm cleaning methods and reopening conditions through the canopy's maintenance plan.
