A freestanding canopy beside the lawn

This Changyuan project uses a freestanding membrane canopy beside a lawn, close to a curved path and established trees. Its white roof covers a hard-surfaced platform with steps at the side. Slender columns and exposed tie rods give this Qingsong Membrane Structures canopy an open arrangement beneath the roof.

Columns, tie rods and an extended roof

The membrane extends along the platform with a gently curved roof edge. Uprights rising above the roof and diagonal rods create a distinct structural outline. Supports follow the platform edge, leaving the centre free of partitions.

Coordinating the platform and path

On a comparable landscaped site, canopy placement should be considered together with path turns, step access and trees to be retained. The intended covered area can be defined first, followed by checks on column bases and paving edges. Tree canopies, level changes and maintenance routes should be included in the site survey.
