Membrane shelters for wind and rain
For a wind-and-rain shelter, first explain the experience to improve. An open roof mainly provides overhead cover; side-driven wind and rain require separate consideration of openness and site conditions.

Define expectations for an open space
Where ventilation and easy access must remain, compare side protection and circulation together. Do not equate roof projection with usable sheltered space; assess activities near the edges too.
- Which areas must remain usable during rain?
- Which side access openings must remain clear?
