When adding a membrane canopy to an existing building, first decide whether it stands independently or connects to the building. These options need different site information and cannot be selected from a facade photograph alone.
Base connections on existing-condition information
Mark doors, windows, equipment and maintenance zones on an elevation to compare canopy height and projection. Have the project designer assess the feasibility of any connection to the existing structure.
